Celebrating 8 Years of Reimagine Talent
Reimagining Success
Reflecting on 8 years in business, I spent 9 years working for a Randstad global company, so in 12 months, I will have run my own business for the same amount of time.
As a business owner, it has been an interesting journey for me. When starting a new business, your default goal is often to follow everyone else who starts a business, with the sole aim and measure of success being to build a big business. As time has progressed, I have realised that big does not always mean successful. This can be true whether you have a business or not. Most people think that career progression means getting into a managerial role, but let's be honest, only a certain percentage of people are cut out to be leaders. The same can be said for growing a business—not everyone is cut out to grow a really big business.
After 8 years of being in business, my aspirations have changed considerably. I owe this to experience but also to becoming a mother. My goals have been simplified to:
Being the best Supply Chain recruiter in the market
Running an effective and efficient agile small business
There are times when I feel that if things had been different, maybe I would have grown a large business. But in hindsight, that is not necessarily the success I was striving for or what I needed at this stage of life.
So my question to you is: Is being truly successful moving into a management role and beyond? Or could it be being the best in your field as an individual contributor? Could it be working for and with the best companies in the market? Could it be getting paid well to work part-time?
I feel it's time to redefine success because, in reality, it can take many forms, and the biggest success could be staying in your current role and continuing to hone your skills and abilities.
As I reflect on the last 12 months, there has been a lot to celebrate:
Successfully transitioning to working 4 days per week (and not 3 days this year)
Welcomed two new team members, strengthening our business for future growth
Secured the first 2 major event speaking opportunities
Had the opportunity to lead the Women in Supply Chain Portfolio for the SCLAA
Secured and filled the most senior Supply Chain leadership role we have had to date
Grown our temporary recruitment offering
Brought on some amazing new clients
Had the opportunity to connect with even more wonderful candidates in our industry
I am grateful to be in our 8th year and I am looking forward to a great 2025!
